Red Nose Day 2017
Red Nose Day is a UK fundraising event set up by Comic Relief. To celebrate red nose day, everybody is encouraged to do something fun or silly to raise money, celebrities included. Red Nose Day unites the entire country by trying to make a difference to the lives of others both in the UK and Africa, who are living in desperate poverty. This year Red Nose Day is being celebrated nationally on 24th March 2017. This year at Russell Hill Road Day Nursery we have decided to hold a few events ourselves in order to raise money for this worthy cause. We held a bake sale, and the children dressed in red and some became superhero’s for the day. We all had great fun dressed in red or superheros. There were some lovely dresses, t-shirts/ costumes, everyone got into the spirit of it, especially the staff. On the day we also held our bake sale. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the parents for their endeavours and contribution to the bake sale. In addition we also had giant cookies that melted in your mouth, cupcakes galore. In The spirit of participation, some staff tried to do their bit by baking at home, and in some cases committing the cardinal sin of being seen at the local supermarket buying cakes for subsequent purchase (shock horror!!! – they thought we could not tell the difference). The children also made some lovely delectable contributions on the day in the form cupcakes, biscuits which shone with their own edible glitter. At 4:30 we set up a stall in the main unit playroom and tried to entice the parents to purchase our goodies. The children loved serving the parents, and In total we managed to raise approximately £160 for charity. We would like to say a big thank you to all of you for getting involved and I am sure the comic relief foundation would like to say a big thank you too! We look forward to the next fundraising event with eager anticipation. Once again I'd like to thank everyone who participated in this endeavour.
